Rhinoplasty is colloquially known as a “nose job”. It is a cosmetic surgery conducted to reshape the nose. The corrective surgery is performed to make the nose smaller or larger, correct the bump, the angles in relation to the upper lip, indentations and other defects relating to the tip of the nose.
Rhinoplasty can be conducted using general or local anaesthesia. Rhinoplasty can correct the structure of the nose if it causes difficulty in breathing. Rhinoplasty can also improve the physical appearance after an injury or disease.
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct the size, shape, and proportion of the face. While mostly done as a cosmetic procedure, it could be done as a therapeutic procedure too, where there are structural abnormalities causing congestion and breathing issues.
Some of the common indications for this procedure include:
A. Nasal tip that is enlarged, bulbous, hooked, drooping or upturned
B. Size of nose out of proportion for the size of the face
C. Improper position of the nostrils (size or position)
D. Visible depressions or bumps on the nasal bridge
E. Asymmetry between the right and left nostrils
F. Nasal septal/ bony deviation that is visible externally
Depending on the desired outcome, some of the bones or cartilage in the nose may be removed or added. At the time of consultation, discuss your desired changes completely. Plastic Surgeon also can suggest you desired changes possible on your nose to get better one. To know more details on Rhinoplasty visit Icps2016
